All individual artists and arts organizations can obtain their very own free Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) number, to ensure that they are accurately coded as an arts organization or artist.  Americans for the Arts conducts an annual research initiative, Creative Industries, using D&B data to document the number of arts-related businesses and employees in any geographical region or political jurisdiction. This report is updated annually in March. Order the report at this link: http://www.artsusa.org/information_services/research/services/creative_industries/002.asp. If you do not have a D&B number you are not represented in the data and this analysis suggests a vast under-representation of non-profit arts organizations and artists. So SIGN UP AND BE COUNTED! The process is free and takes only minutes to complete. To find your DUNS number, please go to http://smallbusiness.dnb.com.  If you do not have a DUNS number, you can get one for free by either calling 1 (800) 234-3867 or registering online at www.dnb.com.
